Book review: Flyfishing in Ireland. A classical title about fly fishing the green island. About streams and loughs, fishing gear and methods. Beautiful and well structured, but of course also a little superficial since it covers basically every aspect of fly fishing - lake, river, stream - salmon, trout - gear and fly choice - even casting. /5.   This is Ireland’s second longest river and world famous for its dry fly fishing. It is a wide (30m/ft) limestone river/spring creek flowing for miles to the sea at Waterford port. This river also holds some very large fish and the stretch Kevin had picked had perfect water for swinging some big, weighted streamers to these trophies.

THE DELPHI FLYFISHING SCHOOL featuring Robert Gillespie. World-class instruction at Ireland’s most beautiful fishing lodge At Delphi Lodge we are able to provide world class tuition through our resident instructor, Robert fishing instruction can be as simple as a short visit for half a day or built into a fully tutored course over a few days while staying in the Lodge. A Book on Angling – Being a complete treatise on the art of angling in every branch is a work of angling literature with significant fly fishing content written by Francis Francis, angling editor to The Field and published in London in by Longmans, Green and Company.

I’ve done fly-fishing on Beltra Lake and Carrowmore Lake, as well as some rivers. Fly-fishing is trying to lure salmon and trout in with tiny flies. It’s a wonderful experience. I think the fish come to the ladies more than the men! It’s been proved that ladies make better anglers then men.   9. Trey Combs, Steelhead Fly Fishing - though it contains how to's about flies, tackle & technique, it's really more of a series of short stories based on the famous steelhead anglers and the rivers that made them famous. Written in a style akin to Schwiebert (though some would say less pretentious), it is a joy to read and on the "must list.

The seminal Irish fly fishing book or merely a fly fishing book set in Ireland. Such has been the impact and influence of Kingsmill Moore’s classic, it is both.

Fly fishing is an angling method that uses a light-weight lure—called an artificial Although anglers in Scotland and Ireland had been fishing the lochs and loughs for trout with an artificial fly for several generations (as far back as John Colquhoun listed the menus of fly dressings in his book The Moor and Loch detailing the wings.

Another overlooked book is Fly Fishing in Ireland by Tommy (TJ) Hanna, A bit dated, it has been reprinted, and is worth a look. Some refer to him as Ireland's Skues, he did correspond with GEM as well as other anglers of the day.
